ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER

Racafe is one of the largest green coffee traders in Colombia with experts in many different aspects of coffee growing. They use this expertise to uplift and train farmers in multiple regions of Colombia. Racafe also operates 7 milling stations in strategic regions and one blending plant. The Neiva region mill is also the first coffee mill operated using solar energy in Colombia. This coffee from Racafe is a washed lot from all 7 of their mills and processed using Swiss Water’s trademark decaffeination process.

WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE

We're excited to work with Racafé for the first time on a large blended lot from Colombia. The combination of varietals and careful quality control has produced a particularly composed and comforting profile, making it a great fit for a medium roast decaf.

The cup opens with lots of plush sweetness, coming through as soft marshmallow. Behind that is a sweet orange marmalade character that adds a gentle jammy fruit quality without pulling the coffee away from its rounded profile.

As it cools, caramelized chocolate chip notes become more prominent in the finish, adding warmth and depth to the sweetness.

It's an easy coffee to use across different preparations, whether as espresso or brewed coffee, and a good option when you're looking for something with as little caffeine as possible (swiss water process) without giving up the character of a well developed medium roast.
