ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER

Hartmann Reserve is a project founded by Ratibor Jr. and Tessie Hartmann in 2020. At the Hartmann Reserve, coffee is only part of the experience that blends nature, indigenous culture, and a constant strive for high quality. Coffee is sent to the Reserve from multiple farms under the Hartmann family’s supervision. Coffee lots that are processed and sold as part of the Reserve must meet strict standards that the Ratibor Hartmann family has developed over generations of coffee production. These microlots are then sent to select customers around the world.

From Tessie Hartmann:

The cherries are harvested, ensuring only the best ripe ones are selected. The lot is then slowly dried on African beds for about 12-15 days, allowing the fruit to dry evenly. After this, the coffee is moved to a 'black room' to homogenize the batch, ensuring consistency in the drying process through a dehydration technique.

WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE

This is one of the most complex Geshas we’ve tasted to date! The Hartmann team has done incredible work producing an incredibly clean and dynamic natural processed coffee. We get a large depth of flavors starting with very sweet blueberries and peaches and ending in sweet dried pineapple. Throughout the tasting journey we get tons of other fruits and florals in the mix as well which has made this one of our favorite coffees of the year. This coffee transforms in lovely ways to bring out washed qualities and natural qualities of the Gesha varietal in beautiful ways. We were only able to secure a small portion of the lot to roast and serve so don’t miss your chance to try this incredible coffee!
