ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
Eliyas Dukamo and Atiklit Dejene ("Mimi"), the founders of Elto Coffee, are rockstars of Ethiopian specialty coffee—Eliyas coming from the storied Dukamo family that founded Daye Bensa, while Mimi cut her teeth doing QC for Gesha Village. Their own venture, Elto, operates two drying stations—one in Bona, one in Arbegona—focused on the production of high-quality and competition-grade microlots using industry best practices. The word "Elto" has a dual meaning in Sidama—meaning both "abundance" and "more than passion," summarizing the couple's intention for their enterprise.
This lot from Elto Coffee is traditionally washed, then dried on raised beds.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
We’re thrilled to share a coffee we’ve been eagerly anticipating: our first-ever lot sourced from Elto Coffee in Ethiopia, an exceptional producer whose dedication and craft we’ve admired for years. This marks the beginning of a relationship we’re genuinely excited about.
This release showcases everything we love about classic, high-altitude washed Ethiopian landrace varieties—a profile that has long been one of our absolute favorites for its purity, clarity, and expressive florality.
In the cup, expect vibrant bergamot, highly sweet Cara Cara orange, and layered citric lemon with a sparkling acidity. As it cools, it turns beautifully into a delicate, honeyed black tea finish. A standout representation of an impressive harvest year, this coffee captures the elegance of the best Ethiopian washed profiles. We hope you enjoy it.
