ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
From Simeng:
Cimizhu was founded in 2007 by Po Zha, a Lahu community leader and former soldier who encouraged neighbors to plant coffee and trained them in cultivation, pruning and harvesting. At that time coffee was little known in Ximeng, but his persistence turned Cimizhu into the county’s first large-scale specialty coffee farm, giving local families a reliable income and new opportunities. Consistent rainfall and strong day-night temperature swings help cherries mature slowly and evenly. The estate partners with Huangguan Coffee Co. for local wet-mill processing, ensuring careful handling and quality right from harvest.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
We are proud to share an important milestone in our journey with the launch of our first ever coffee from China. This release represents years of effort and dedication as producers in Yunnan have worked to refine cultivation practices, elevate quality, and highlight the unique character of their region.
The result is a clean washed coffee that beautifully expresses the terroir of Yunnan. On the fragrance, it opens with striking lemongrass herbal aromatics that are both vibrant and potent. On the palate, you will find a crisp sweetness reminiscent of Asian pear, creating an elegant balance that carries through the taste. The finish evolves into a medium bodied structure with refined tannins and the impression of red tea.
This coffee not only showcases the progress of Yunnan’s producers but also adds a distinctive and exciting dimension to our portfolio. We look forward to sharing this remarkable expression with you.
