ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
This coffee is a truly special lot grown by Debebe Dangura and produced by Tamiru Tadesse and the team at Alo Coffee. It is part of Alo Coffee’s first private auction, aptly named “Echoes of the Peak”, which showcases 8 different processing methods across 20 different high altitude, single-farm lots. Each processing method avoids extended fermentation and instead favors slow drying to showcase the specific terroir of each coffee.
For this lot, uniformly selected ripe cherries are first dried in shade until they reach 20% moisture. Then, they are moved into a light deprived environment with controlled ventilation. The coffee then undergoes a remarkable 57 days of drying and maturation in complete darkness until it reaches a moisture level of 11%. This process, which Alo Coffee has named “Moon Shadow”, results in a uniquely clean and delicate representation of a natural Ethiopian coffee.

We’re incredibly excited to present our first ever auction win lot.
As many of you know, we’ve been sourcing a growing number of coffees from Tamiru and the incredible team behind Alo Coffee. It felt only fitting that our first auction win would come from their very first auction—a milestone moment for them, and for us.
The Moon Shadow 3 lot is truly spectacular, showcasing just how expressive and impeccably clean natural Ethiopian coffees can be when handled with extreme care. Dried slowly over an extended period in a dark room, this coffee reveals remarkable clarity, depth, and precision—an elegant testament to Alo’s meticulous approach.
Produced in very small volume, this release is our way of highlighting the peak of Alo’s 2025 harvest as the year draws to a close.
In the cup, the experience is beautifully complex. It opens with a lifted bergamot aroma, unfolding into vibrant layers of zingy raspberry and sweet, tropical dragonfruit. As it cools, the profile softens and the florals evolve into a delicate rose bouquet. It’s a stunning presentation of Alo’s pride, patience, and dedication, and a wonderful way to cap off a year.
