ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER

This coffee is made up of anaerobic washed processed typica mejorado and red caturra varietals, and was produced by Ramiro and Vicky Granada of Siempre Verde, located in Pichincha, Ecuador.

This coffee was hand-picked and hand-sorted before going through a double anaerobic fermentation process. In this process, the whole cherries are fermented for twelve hours, and then after the cherry skins have been removed (depulped), they are fermented again for another twelve hours. Finally, the coffee beans are washed and placed on drying beds for about twenty-one days. Throughout this period, the coffee beans continue to undergo rigorous quality control measures to ensure the best-tasting final product.

They named the lot that this coffee was grown on  “La Esperanza”, which means “The Hope” in Spanish, which holds significance to them due to the political climate in Ecuador since 2023.  The nation had valiantly come together to stand against corruption, crime, and violence, which resulted in some level of danger and turmoil.

They hold the strong hope that good will rally and overcome evil, with La Esperanza reminding them of this.  They named the coffee after this hope that both their beloved country and farm will flourish.

WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE

We selected this coffee for its very balanced malic and citrus acidity that is finished with a smooth toffee-reminiscent finish.  It still very much displays brightness that our citrus-expression coffees typically hold, but this one also holds gentler sweetness to make this a pleasure to drink for any daily occasion.
