ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
This coffee is a honey processed Sidra varietal, and was produced by Ecuador’s COE and Taza Dorada winning producer Galo Morales and his farm Finca Cruz Loma. His farm is located in Pichincha, Ecuador, and has been in operation for 80 years. Galo took over the farm 20 years ago, and runs the farm with his wife Maria and five other employees. In his words, “we are small but with huge hearts and hard-working hands”.
Their dedication to quality and excellence has led them to experiment with altitudes, soil types, and innovative plant care techniques. The resulting (literal) fruits of their labor are excitingly delicious coffees, that have earned top honors at the Taza Dorada, Ecuador’s national coffee quality competition. They have consistently placed Top 3 in the last 3 years (winning 1st in 2021). We are glad to continue our relationship with Galo and Maria, to bring more of their amazing coffees with you.
WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
We selected this coffee for its sweetness, clean flavors, and overall as a coffee that can be enjoyed every day. It has great complexity without overwhelming acidity. The Sidra varietal is also one of our favorite varietals, and Finca Cruz Loma has taken great care in producing this varietal for us to share with you.
This coffee was also selected for March’s mystery coffee for Mystery Coffee League - and we can now share this with everyone after reveal. (We’ve re-cupped the coffee, and have some updated flavor notes - thanks to everyone who competed in March!)
