ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER
This coffee, the Natural Arbegona G-1, is produced by the 2021 Ethiopian Cup of Excellence winner, Tamiru Tadesse, at one of the highest coffee-growing towns in Ethiopia, sitting at 2200 meters above sea level. Coffees grown in the Arbegona region are slow-growing, with the average screen size of the seeds vastly smaller than others in the country. This exceedingly high elevation, combined with careful attention to picking and agronomy, leads to wonderfully vibrant cup profiles.
Only a year into establishing Alo Coffee Export Plc, Tamiru had already managed to foster a commendable reputation among specialty coffee connoisseurs around the world by producing coffees like this. In 2021, he won 1st Place at the Ethiopia Cup of Excellence and advanced closer to his goal of bringing greater recognition and rewards to Sidama Bensa coffee farmers, whose hard work and dedication make top-quality coffees possible.

WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE
We chose this coffee for its sweet berry-forward complexity and delicious clean natural profile, which is the result of Tamiru Tadesse’s extensive expertise that won him 1st place in Ethiopia’s COE in 2021. His name is familiar throughout the oversea markets and we’re thrilled to share his fantastic coffee with you after connecting with him at SCA Expo in Chicago.
This coffee is berry expressive (wait for it) - in that multiple forms of berry are present - starting from blueberry, and finishing with a sweet mulberry.
This coffee is very approachable without overwhelming acidity or artificial flavors, producing a very pleasant balanced sweetness that lingers in the aftertaste.
The roast profile for this coffee should please both ultralight and light drinkers - we’ve gone as light as what we think is recommended for this coffee to preserve its berry clarity without risking underdevelopment.
